Introduction
Part of the AEBoards switch trio, the AEBoards Naevy was the brand's first foray into self-developed switches, a project that was initiated way back in 2019. The trio consists of the Naevy, Raed and Blaeck, where both the Raed and Naevy have long-pole stems, and the Blaeck a standard travel unit made to mimic the MX Black. What’s special about these is that all three stems are custom-designed by AEBoards themselves, and not just another generic recolour or OEM mix-and-match. Since their launch, all three switches have received several updates throughout the years, with slight changes to the materials - the latest being Round 2.1 which are the ones we have in-stock today.
The AEBoards Naevy is a rather special one - it has an incredibly short travel distance of 3mm, a characteristic of extreme tactiles, yet it has a very smooth and subdued tactile bump. This combination makes the Naevy feel a lot more comfortable than what the specsheet may suggest, something which may disappoint fans of heavy tactiles. We for one love the Naevy - the drawn out and mild D-shaped bump makes typing feel just right with a healthy serving of tactile feedback and resistance, which is then followed by an abrupt bottom out. It is a short travel distance tactile that you can use daily, something not exactly possible with other extreme tactiles. Sound wise, it has that nice and full thud as with the other AEBoards switches, however the Naevy exhibits a slightly higher pitched bottom out - likely due to the longer stem pole.
If you love medium tactiles and a super-short travel distance, this switch is for you.
