Cherry Ergo Clear Tactile Switch

Introduction

The Cherry MX Ergo Clear was originally conceived as a frankenswitch way back in 2011, combining the highly tactile (at least of that era) stem of the MX Clear, and the housings of a standard Cherry MX Black. The heavy MX Black spring was also swapped out for a lighter one, improving tactility and comfort. The only way you could get the Ergo Clear experience back then was to purchase these different switches and springs separately and combine them by yourself, that is until Cherry finally released the official MX Ergo Clear in October 2022. It took 12 years to get here - and as such demand for the Ergo Clear was sky high. 

The Cherry MX Ergo Clear takes the signature Cherry MX Black sound and pairs it with a light-medium tactile bump, essentially making it a tactile MX Black. The bump is distinctly P-shaped, and starts at the very start of the keystroke up until about halfway of the total travel distance. It is noticeably lighter than the MX Black, with a spring that bottoms out at 55g instead of the very weighty 80g. As with the MX Black, we’d recommend manual lubing the MX Ergo Clear to unleash its full potential. Despite the light application of oil/grease the switch is still noticeably rough - something you’d be sure to forget once you listen to the heavenly clacks this switch produces.
