Introduction

While bearing the popular ‘Brown’ name typically associated with light tactiles, the WS Brown is far from light with a strong and sharp tactile bump that strikes the perfect balance of tactility and comfort. Part of Wuque Studio’s WS Switch Series, the WS Brown is the WS Heavy Tactile’s lighter sibling, equipped with a slightly milder tactile response. As with the rest of the WS Switch series of switches, this switch has matte white housings made from nylon and a box-shaped stem, making it feel impressively solid with basically zero wobble. In fact, the only distinction between switches in this series are the springs and stems, which gives each a sufficiently unique feel without sacrificing their excellent, shared performance.

Differing from the extreme tactility of its heavier sibling, the WS Brown offers a slightly more approachable experience with a sharper yet more subdued push feel. The tactile event starts at the very top of the keypress, and lasts for about 80-85% of the total travel distance - similar to the WS Heavy Tactile just with an ever so slightly lower intensity. This makes the bump feel somewhat sharper and not as ‘large’. The total travel distance is also longer at 3.8mm, feeling much more natural to type on yet still with the added benefit of a loud bottom out sound. Additionally, the spring weight is more akin to a standard MX tactile, whereby the actuation force is similar to the bottom out force, unlike in the case of the WS Heavy Tactile. Sound wise, the WS Brown leans on the clackier side like the rest of its similarly-housed siblings, despite the use of typically deeper-sounding nylon. The fullness balances things out - high pitched and sharp yet not too annoying.

If you love a comfortable yet still very tactile typing experience, this switch is for you.
