There was a period of time in the hobby where full transparent switches were all the craze - while some were looking to make the ultimate see-through keyboard others wanted to create a table-top disco by maximizing the potential of their RGB lighting. While we as enthusiasts did not fully buy into the hype, we must admit that full transparent switches (or at least everything but the spring) looked REALLY cool. The Ice Candy is Tecsee’s answer to that - a fully see-through long-pole linear switch that performs just as good as it looks. Ice candy is such an accurate name…

The Tecsee Ice Candy has all the makings of a good linear switch - buttery smooth push feel, minimal wobble and a crisp, satisfying bottom and top out sound. If we were to pick one standout feature of the Ice Candy though, it has to be the housings. For some reason, the Ice Candy feels unbelievably rock solid - not only when using the switch but by just holding it in your hands. The housings are so tight they feel as if they’re glued together, and as a result of this the stem just glides down effortlessly with almost no wobble. In fact, we think that the reason why this switch is so smooth is less of the fact that it is factory oiled, but rather just how tight the tolerances are which in turn drastically reduces friction hotspots. It really is something you have to try and feel it out to understand. Sound is also another highlight, the Tecsee Ice Candy has a rather neutral, plump and poppy tone to it, with a pronounced bottom out thanks to the long pole stem. This truly is a switch where you can have your cake and eat it too.
